Covid-19 protocols may affect these hours, we update our website regularly for any changes.

We suggest writing down everything you plan to store and identify any large items that will be your delimiting factor. Don’t forget about the BBQ, gym stuff or any outdoor items that are out of sight.

Check out our space estimator page to give you an idea. Or if you frequently use your space, a larger space with well organised racking may be more convenient for you.

We recommend that you visit us so we can show you options before locking in the right size space for your needs.

It’s like playing 3D Tetris really. Always place large heavy items, or items you will not need access to, at the rear of the unit and work towards the front with more fragile items, or items you think you’ll need to get to while using the storage.

You are paying for the whole space including the height of the storage, so it makes sense to store items in an upright position like beds, couches, rugs, and consoles. Don’t forget to use blankets or cartons as padding. You can also use shelving if you like.

Always pack boxed items with each other, ideally with the same size, and put soft furnishings and items that do not weigh very much on top, yes it can be your bicycle. Once you have a solid foundation. Lastly, cover your belongings. If you are going into all the trouble of storing them, then pack them well.

What do they have in common? Water.
Freezers, fridges, and other items that hold water should always be dried and cleaned before being stored, otherwise mould and mildew will soon grow. Tip your kayak and washing machine before transporting them. You’ll be surprised how much water it has inside.

To open the fridge doors, or not?
It really depends on how long you plan to store it. If it’s only for a couple of months, keep the fridge doors slightly ajar and wipe over with vanilla extract before storage, as this will help with odours. If you are planning to store it for over 3 months, clean and dry it well before putting an open jar of baking soda or some coal and shut it tight. You don’t want the magnetic rubber seal to go bacon on you.

Finally, store all white goods the way they were intended – vertically. You don’t want the spring in your washing machine to mis-align or the freon/coolant/refrigerant in your AC or fridge to leak!

You cannot store items that are:

  • Illegal
  • Stolen
  • Flammable
  • Explosive
  • Hazardous environmentally harmful
  • Perishable or that are risk to the property of any person.
  • Motors with fuel and oil
  • Chlorine
  • Acid
  • Paint
  • Petrol
  • etc.

Don’t store animals or people, or even potted plants – they tend to die!

Kidding aside, in the event of dire necessity or during an emergency, or if given a police warrant, Space Station may break and enter the unit. So don’t store these kinds of items please.

We do not automatically ensure your goods. Most home contents policies do not cover goods in storage and while in transit (check this with your movers). In the unlikely event that something should happen to your goods you would be responsible as you are solely responsible for the storage of your goods.

Ask our friendly staff about our competitive insurance rates, or you can ask your current broker/provider if they can extend their cover for you. If it’s worth storing, it’s worth insuring!

Yes, providing you have left the storage in a tidy state, and you have given us seven (7) days' notice of your intention to vacate, any hire paid in advance after the first month is refunded along with the security deposit/bond.

Your contract is on an ongoing month-to-month, so you are welcome to stay as long as you need. Just remember when the time comes to give us at least 7 days’ notice by phone or email.

We understand that your situation can change, so if you need to stay after the notified moveout date, please inform us as we may have pre-booked someone else into the space and it will give us time to make other arrangements for them and happily keep you in your current space.

Reservations may be made 1-2 weeks in advance, depending on how many similar storage units we have left at the store. If we have a few of the same size storage left, we will be happy to hold the unit for you if you pay the $50 bond in advance, please note that this is not refundable if you change your mind as we have already held the storage for you.

If we only have 1 or 2 of the size you need left, we strongly suggest that you hire it as soon as possible. This indicates that the storage size is very popular and will most likely be gone in the next few days or even hours.

Space Station Storage follows the signed and agreed contract with the Hirer for late payments and liens on severely delinquent accounts.

We will send you late notices and in the event of still being in arrears after 14 days, you will be charged a late fee, and your storage unit will be overlocked. This fee will be charged monthly, 14 days after the hire charge was due, until all arrears have been made good.

If the storage is still unpaid for a period of one calendar month, Space Station shall have a lien over all contents of the unit and may upon giving two weeks’ notice to the Hirer, break and enter the unit and retain the contents of the unit.

It is your responsibility to inform us of your most updated contact details, email, phone and mailing address.
